Hi everyone! The Iowa State University Love Your Melon Campus Crew has been working closely with our nonprofit partner Ronald McDonald House throughout this semester.
The Ronald McDonald House is a nonprofit organization that offers housing for seriously ill and injured children that need specialized treatment far from their homes. Depending on the length of their treatment and recovery process, children can be in the Ronald McDonald House for just a few days or as long as several months. At the Ronald McDonald House they focus on serving families and keeping them together while their child receives the medical attention they need.

On Friday, November 2nd, the crew headed to the Ronald McDonald House located in Iowa City, Iowa. The crew served dinner for those staying in the house, and got to hangout with the kiddos and their families.
This is what crew member Carley Lynch had to say about her experience at the RMDH last week: "Having the opportunity to make a meal at the Iowa City Ronald McDonald House on November 2nd was such a great experience! It was so fun to create a meal with crew members, and have a chance to chat with a few families staying at the house. They all seemed to enjoy the meal! If you ever have a chance to make a meal for the RMH I highly recommend it!"
On November 13th, the Iowa State Love Your Melon Campus Crew is teaming up with local Ames apartment complex the Union, and running a Ronald McDonald House non-perishable item drive. Anyone who provides 3 items that are non-perishable are given a ticket to eat a Thanksgiving dinner while supporting the Ronald McDonald House. Non-perishable items do not only include food, but we are accepting any non-perishable item children and their families can find use of.
Join us tomorrow at the Union located on Lincoln Way in Ames, IA for a chance to support the Ronald McDonald House and hangout with the Iowa State Love Your Melon Crew!
