OUR STORY

 

The Iowa State Love Your Melon Campus Crew was founded by three individuals at Iowa State University in 2014. As Iowa State University carried a wide-range of organizations on campus that aimed on giving back to the community, these three individuals wanted Love Your Melon to be one of them. One of the Founders, Nettie Sparkman, stated, “We believed Love Your Melon had the ability to make a difference at Iowa State due to how incredible the student body was.”

 

The crew acquired 20 campus ambassadors their first year. This included an executive board with a crew captain, vice-captain, secretary and public relations coordinator along with it. However, the crew had limited opportunities to connect with ‘Love Your Melon’ families. Today, the Iowa State Love Your Melon Campus Crew has 30 campus ambassadors with five ‘Love Your Melon’ families whom the crew stands up with during the fight against children pediatric cancer.
